I thought I had said goodbye forever...

To the restaurant industry that is. But low and behold this week I have found myself embarking on a new adventure in a new restaurant. Obviously the economy has taken a steady decline this past year and subsequently so has my bank account. I had been contemplating for a while if I should find a new job. But doubt filled my mind as I heard about there being a scarcity of jobs in the valley and there was probably none to accomidate my college degree as well. Don't get me wrong, I have loved my two years of being a physical therapy aide and have made some great friends and have a great boss but this valley has a hard time paying college grads what they deserve. I had no choice but to go job searching. Maybe the Logan IHC hospital would have something, then I could at least stay within my degree. Then one day I drove down 14th North and discovered a building in the midst of going up. Hmmm, I wonder what that is. Weeks went by and finally a sign posted "Future Home of Texas Roadhouse". Oh I love that place and little Benny worked there and loved it too. Well how do I apply I thought, I guess I will just wait until a Now Hiring sign goes up on the work trailer in the parking lot. This past week it was up so I hurried in applied and had an interview Monday and TADA! I got the job. Most people dread going back to serving if they leave that industry but to tell you the truth I am so excited! I absolutely LOVE serving and especially meeting new people. Its a brand new restaurant in the valley so I think it is going to be pretty profitable which means my bank account in turn will go up! They are only open for dinner which means I get to spend all day with my little rascal! This is gonna be good. Oh and thank you Cache Valley for growing and prospering enough to be able to welcome this new opportunity into the valley!

A Morning in the life of Jace

In the mornings me and Jace kinda have a routine goin. We wake up and then usually I hit the gym while he enjoys social time at the kids club in the gym. This morning we woke up too late to go to the gym so I was able to capture some morning moments at home. Lately Jace has been obsessed with the bath tub. I have switched from a shower to a bath just because he won't stop trying to crawl into the tub while I am in the shower. This way I can entertain him while I am in the bath. Eventually I bring him in there with me and he goes CRAZY! He is such a water baby. My friends at the pool attribute it to the fact that my whole pregnancy I was hanging out in the water at the pool. When I take him out of the bath he cries. I get his diaper on and while I am getting ready for work this is what has been going on.... He learned to crawl with something in his mouth from grandma and grandpa's puppy. He crawls up the drawers when I leave them open
Then he is off to the tub to grab his floating letters and washcloth which he really enjoysEventually he crawls up to my leg to put him on the counter so he can do this with papa's toothbrush, hahaThen we both get dressed and it is off to work and grandma's. (He is more interested in grabbing the camera then taking a picture) Oh how I love being a mom to this sweetheart.

Things I love...

Never before would I eat white bread. Growing up we always had wheat and thanks to my health concious mom she taught us that white bread does not have as many nutrients as wheat so I tried to stay away from it. Well that all changed when I met my mother in law. She makes the best homemade white bread! My father in law can't digest wheat so she perfected the white bread. When I dropped Jace off this morning I was just in time for some fresh hot out of the oven bread. It was so delicious and I loved every gut clogging bite of it. Lately I have been reminded of the things I love so hence the name of this post.

We have all heard too much lately about Michael Jackson but I do have to admit that I kind of am enthralled by the guy. I LOVE his music! He was an absolute genius with his tunes and fast manuevering feet. I do think the guy was a little "wacko jacko" but come on after his upbringing and trials he has had, who wouldn't have bad self esteem and a skewed perception of what is right and wrong. Anyways I need to give a little love to him because he really tried to make the world a better place for you and for me and the entire human race.Next up..What is the perfect combination? Chocolate and mint of course! Ever since I was introduced to Grasshopper cookies I tend to pick up anything with Choco and Mint. When I go to Charlies a local ice cream shop I try to pick something different but can't vere from a mint oreo milkshake. At the chocolate shop in town I always get a mint truffle. And why oh why Hershey's did you take away my chocolate bar with mint crispies in it? I discovered mint chips and now I can't stop putting them in cookies and brownies, what is wrong with me? Nothing I say I love my indulgence! If I die from anything it will be from eating at least one thing a day that has chocolate and mint in it!Last but not least another unhealthy treat. Diet Pepsi with Cherry. Zero Calories, Zero Carbs, Zero Sugar. Enough said.

Anyone need a pillow?

Round 2

This last Friday I had off soooo we ventured to the cabin again! This time Ben and Rachael were there along with Mom and Dad. We had a glorious time once again. There was one thing funny that happened. We were deciding what to have for lunch and no one could make up their minds. So me and my daddy-o hopped in the car and sped to Eden's po-dunk grocery store. When I say sped I mean it because lo and behold a little critter had crawled into the Pilot's air conditioning system and died! It reeked so bad and we couldn't turn on the air or vents. We made it back just fine but poor mom and dad had to drive home with that little dead varmit smell! We love our cabin experiences.

Food Snatcher

I was cooking dinner and left the fridge door open while I was collecting my ingredients. When I went to get my next item, this little caterpillar had made his way into the fridge and had his eyes on the cherries! I have a feeling I am in for trouble!

Fathers Day & Weekend in our Paradise

Lukes first Fathers Day was great. We went over to my in laws the Lancaster's and had dinner. The day before Luke was gone so me and Jace took a little trip to Hasting's our local entertainment store. I wanted to buy something for Luke but we said we shouldn't spend a lot of money. I found him the Garden State soundtrack. He loved the movie so why not get him the soundtrack. I could not wait until fathers day so I ended up giving it to him that night and he loved the present, then Jace gave him a big wet kiss. I took pictures of Jace with his papa from that day and here is one. Luke is such a great father and Jace adores him. I love him so much and am so grateful he is my husband.

My mom just recently flew into Utah to stay with my grandparents at their cabin in Ogden. My sis Emily drove her up there and this past Friday me and Jace took a little vacation to the cabin. My grandparents have not met Jace before so it was quite the party when we showed up. Jace always is friendly and good with new people. When he saw my mom he definately remembered her, I think it made her trip. We had dinner with them and Jace tried mashed potatoes for the first time. Later on he tried yellow cake and it was like heaven in his mouth. He could not get enough and kept squeeking for more. Another reason why we went this past weekend is because my dad was driving in on Saturday from Colorado. So we were expecting him about four and surprise surprise he showed up at noon! I also straightened my mom's hair on Saturday and what a babe! I really love her hair like that. What a great way to end our trip, spending time with Ems and Willem, mom and dad, and grandma and grandpa. Thanks for inviting us up! We had a relaxing fun weekend.

Busy, Busy

Summer time has officially begun in our household. The day after my birthday I hopped on a plane with little Jacey and we flew to Colorado to visit Grandma and Grandpa Vinton. My camera was acting weird so my mom took all the pictures so those are soon to come. We had the funnest time there and Jace LOVED being with his other grandparents. When we got there my mom picked us up and instantly he remembered her. The next day we ran errands, went shopping and took Jace on a walk around the neighborhood. My mom is a little of a health nut so we went to Sunflower Market and she introduced me to the best yogurt ever. Seriously it is like eating dessert. Im glad I can't find it here in Logan because it is very fattening as well and I would eat too much of it. Anyways I love Littleton. I forgot how much I liked it there and how I loved all the different unique stores they have there that I miss out on here. On Wednesday I met up with a good high school friend Lindsay. She has two kids of her own and it was so nice to visit. Later that day my parents went to the temple and me and Jace went to Southwest Plaza to browse around. I discovered they had added a deli called Spicy Pickle which is an old time favorite. We could not pass that up! I also bought a new pair of wedges that are so cute. Thursday my dad's aunt and uncle had their 70th wedding anniversary! Can you believe it? That is 30 years short of a hundred years together, what an accomplishment. We met up with all my dad's siblings and the happy couple at Papa Deux's, a seafood restaurant. It was delicious and the event was really special. They were even on the local news! Since all my dad's family was in town the next day we all met up at Doug and Layne's house in the beautiful red rocks. I love their house, it is pretty scenic and the summer breeze blows right through their house. Saturday me and Jace helped(well talked) to my dad as he was pulling dandelions in the front yard then I met up with another high school friend Jon. He is a good friend who came to mine and Luke's reception and who is about to get engaged. On Sunday we went to church and then me and Jace flew home. The next day Luke came home from Washington D.C. (one of the reasons why we went to Colorado). The look on the baby's face when seeing Luke for the first time in a week was priceless. They are such good buddies. This is getting super long but here are a couple of things that have happened since I have been back....

Jace is crawling and pulling himself up on things
Jace is sleeping in his own bed! Hooray! Although he does like sleeping on the floor, crazy baby!
I am the first councelor in the primary
We go on walks every night
We spent Memorial day going on a walk up the canyon and barbecuing with Benny and Rachael
We went to the pool for the first time last week and Jace loved the water
Luke, me and Jace are going to the Oaker Mountain Temple open house this weekend!
